Harvesting Program

For the first topic on this blog, I would like to discuss the weed harvesting program. First I would like to state that I’m a firm supporter of the program and have done so both financially and through volunteering time as a crew member working the Saturday shift when the first clipper was purchased. The lake has come a long way over the past 15 years. I can remember when certain areas of the lake had such a congestion of milfoil making it almost un-navigable.

My only negative comment with the program is the size of the current harvester. I realize that new harvester can cut, hold and remove more weeds than the old one – which is a good thing, but it isn’t made for working around the shorelines and dock areas. In the perfect world it would be great to have two, a large one for the bulk of the lake and a smaller one for shoreline work. I realize that the cost would prevent this from happening, but it would be great if we could.

I’m placing a survey on the blog so people can vote on the harvesting program. Also, please free feel to reply to this post. I really would like everyone to start any discussion they choose to.

I hope everyone enjoys the blog and will return often. See you next summer and please have a safe winter!

Hi Rick: I am happy to find this blog as me and my husband just purchased a place on Cossayuna Lake in September! Hope to meet you this summer.

Hi Stacy and Scott,

Are you seasonal or full time and which part of the lake are you located?
